Take a 6 mile bike ride through Puerto Morelos to learn about the unique ecology of the area that allows the coral reef to flourish. You will start your tour at UNAM which is a university dedicated to ocean conservation. The next stop is at the pier in the center of town, where you will learn about the original economy of puerto morelos that has allowed the town to thrive for generations. Finally you will ride to the mangroves to learn about the fresh water sources supplying the coral reef. You will learn about the important work people from town have done to keep the mangroves from getting developed and thus killing off the reef.
